Cheap Use Somebody

1.29 for this one song??!?! Just buy the whole CD! It's well worth it! This CD was amazing and defiantly should have won the Grammy over coldplay's new album.Get more detail about Use Somebody.

Buying Them Crooked Vultures

I'll skip the track-by-track reviews, as others have done that better than I could. This CD is easily one of the five best of the year. Three modern musical geniuses collaborating and building on each other's work.

Although the CD isn't going to change rock forever, it's solid, with no filler, no "skippable" tracks, and smart, edgy tone throughout. It sounds most like QOTSA, but is definitely NOT another QOTSA CD. Fans of Foo Fighters and Led Zep get to see a a new side of some of their favorite artists.

A must-have for any lover of hard rock (in any of its forms). Get more detail about Them Crooked Vultures.

Buy Imagine

Being someone with partial hearing, I was never able to fully enjoy this music in the original format because in the original, the sound quality was sloppy and the whole album/CD sounded like it was buried in mud.

This digitized version, cleaned up and fine-tuned, makes this a first-rate listening experience. Some musical purists may scoff at the improvements, but for me, as a music fan, and not some high-tech critic, these improvements make this CD or MP3 download well worth purchasing.Get more detail about Imagine.

Purchase Already Gone

Since her victory on American Idol, Kelly Clarkson has reliably produced guilty pleasure songs. She became a diva; to her astonishment, she became the next Cher. Her sophomore release, My December garnered controversy due to her decision to go emo--but still had strong songs. Clarkson's latest hit "Already Gone",is "controversial" due to its resemblance to Beyonce's Halo

So,Ryan Tedder produced both songs. "Already Gone" is "controversial" in the sense that it's generic. It's not even in the realm of guilty pleasures. "Already Gone" is so bland that within minutes,it's already gone from one's mind. There's no spirit or soul to it. It's ambient music fit for a shopping mall. "Already Gone",thankfully, leaves the memory.Get more detail about Already Gone.

Order Exile On Main St

What can be said about a classic rock album like Exile. So many classic songs I won't try to list them all and describe how each one is great. Some songs are a bit muddled, in particular Jagger's vocals. But that adds to the rawness of the songs. If you are looking for Stones album, this is one to pick up, along with Beggar's Banquet and Let It Bleed those are the dinitive Stones albums in my opinion. Get more detail about Exile On Main St.

Where To Buy The Fall (Amazon Exclusive)

This is a departure from her previous sound. Not a radical departure, but it is not nearly as jazz-based as her previous albums. And if your interests are limited to vocal jazz, then this is not the album for you. But if what you want is a fantastic voice, thoughtful lyrics, and skilled arrangement, then you'll love this album. People deride "pop" music, and with good justification. But this is not American Idol music--this is what you get when you bring real talent to popular sound. If Norah Jones were the rule and not the exception, I'd be an unabashed pop fan. Great album!Get more detail about The Fall (Amazon Exclusive).

Shop For Anti Sampler Fall 2009

I saw the Swell Season perform on the Tonight Show with Conan O'Brien and was throughly impressed by there performance. Seeing them featured on this sampler and being open to trying new artists, I have this free download a try. Speaking on my own taste of music, I didn't quite care for the music here, while I expected tunes at a slower pace, these songs all sounded the same and lacked any real dynamic.Get more detail about Anti Sampler Fall 2009.

Eternal Baroque

I don't normally write reviews, even for great products (as this album is). Nevertheless, I must point out that one of the tracks is incorrectly titled. Track #7, "Ode for St. Cecilia's Day, HWV 76: March" by Dorothee Mields, is the one in question. While still composed by George Frideric Handel, it should actually be the solo "When Thou tookest upon Thee to deliver Man" from Handel's "Dettingen Te Deum in A major." Chris Dixon is the bass soloist and Wolfgang Helbich conducts the Concerto Polacco. The track itself is very beautiful, just incorrectly named. I discovered this incongruity because I heard lyrics (and voice, for that matter) in a track titled "March."

The rest of the sampler is excellent, and I highly recommend you download this free album. It provides a broad selection of the Baroque era while not exhibiting the usual pieces everyone knows (e.g., Bach's "Air" from his third orchestral suite, or one of Vivaldi's four seasons).Get more detail about Eternal Baroque.

Toes Review

I saw these guys at a small, unamplified venue and they were superb. Great muscicians and good guys. I think the sound engineer must have had to limit Zac's voice on the recording because you don't hear the true power of his voice here. Now I'm looking forward to their next albumGet more detail about Toes.

Paper Bag Records Fall '09 Sampler This instant

This is one of the best samplers I've had on my ipod. I am not a music critic, I pretty much hate all music. This sampler keeps me focused on it because it offers a compilation of very different styles. I really dislike hipster-style Arcade Fire imitators, so I just skip some songs to get to more electronic/hip hop funky tracks such as Dancer or the Miracle or That Girl.
Essentially there is a much weaker hippie/hipster feel to this, so its good.Get more detail about Paper Bag Records Fall '09 Sampler.

CMJ 2009: The Bands, The Music, The City, Vol. 3 Immediately

Here we have a great mix of alternative/Indie and borderline folk music that in being free has allowed me to hear some new music that I might otherwise have not come across. Although not all songs do it for me a select few more than make up for it.

"Sooner or Later" reminds me of a softer more ethereal Nick Cave with its demi-orchestral sound, "When they Fight they Fight" gives a glimpse of a 50's pop ballad complete with trumpets and hand claps, and my favorite, "Light at the End of the Tunnel" gives a nod to The Beatles with an alternating tune that jumps and hitches then builds up smoothly to the chorus. Reminds me of "While my guitar Gently Weeps". Which can never be a bad thing in my book!

Overall a delightful listen particularly for a free album! Thanks Amazon.Get more detail about CMJ 2009: The Bands, The Music, The City, Vol. 3.

In A Power Free Interview Best Quality

As a musician in the 70s buying "import" albums from UK (remember vinyl) this was really a great band. Lots of twists and turns to their music, and all were quite acommplished musicians. Get more detail about In A Power Free Interview.

Purchase Rated R [Explicit]

With this album Rihanna showed that she is much more than a pretty face who can belt out a catchy tune: Rated R has both depth and strength. Rihanna dared to step out of the cookie cutter pop-star mold by challenging herself and, more importantly, her fans. Every track is a departure from anything we have experienced in her previous albums. It's edgy, soulful and moving. I dare say it is the best album of the year thus far and 2009 is almost over.

In my opinion most of the negative criticism is coming from fans who are resistant to change. She grew as an artist and by doing so she may have outgrown some of her fans but she will surely pick up many new ones. I certainly count myself among them. Keep an open mind and listen to the entire album: it will not disappoint. Get more detail about Rated R [Explicit].

Buying X5 Free Classical Sampler - Classical Christmas

Wonderful selection of symphonic classical Christmas appropriate pieces. Christmas is not the same without adding these to your collection. The "March of the Toy Soldiers" from the Nutcracker Suite and the "Hallelujah Chorus" are familiar standard Christmas pieces to almost everyone. All are great. All are very traditional.

Combine this with the "Sampler Santa" free downloads and you've got a great compilation of pieces that fall within the "Firestone Presents..." and "Great Songs of Christmas" style, 1960's XMas albums. Be sure to shuffle them for a nice variety. Thank you, Amazon for such nice gifts!Get more detail about X5 Free Classical Sampler - Classical Christmas.

Cheapest Jolene

Dolly doesn't just sing songs, she creates classic songs. This performance of Jolene is yet another Dolly creation. She's not just good, she's a performer of the highest standard in whatever she sings. This song however, is a classic that just doesn't get any better than this.

When I see her name, i recognize I am getting ready to hear classic music from a very talented performer. She stands the test of time with her performances. Always leaving me with a smile and regrets I haven't listened to more. A+++ music, A+++++ talent.

I don't think any song she performs could be even slightly less than good. You go girl!Get more detail about Jolene.

Discount Bad Romance

It's a bit disappointing to see a recording artist do this kind of thing -- Bad Romance is obviously a re-worked version of Poker Face -- I really would have liked to hear something truly new. Both songs (Poker Face & Bad Romance) clock-in at 119 beats per minute, both are in the key of Am, both have the same producer, the "m-m-m-ma" of Poker Face is plainly re-worded into new (but similar) jabberwocky and placed next to the chorus as if a Poker Face cookie-cutter was all one needed to ship platinum anymore....

It's clear that Gaga is a fan of movie director Alfred Hitchcock: she sings, "I want your PSYCHO, your VERTIGO schtik, want you in my REAR WINDOW..." I don't know if this was intentional or not -- the naming of films here by the same director seems a bit too cute to be accidental. I half expected to see THE BIRDS swoop in from NORTH BY NORTHWEST in the video, with a TORN CURTAIN thrown in for good measure.

The production here is first-rate, and is a fine lead-off single for this 8-song unit between albums -- and I have little doubt the song will strike platinum -- I can think of at least a half-dozen solid ways to re-mix this; a ballad version could even be built in A minor from what I've heard here and sell strongly -- but Gaga, if you're reading this, let me tell you something: if you intend to have a career, you better drop the idea of selling the same record over and over and over. The public will only buy that for so long.

Low Price The 99 Most Essential Tchaikovsky Masterpieces (Amazon Exclusive)

Don't buy this. It's broken. Half the cuts will not download and you get a "No longer available to download, please contact customer service" message when you try. Good luck with that, by the way. They are quite happy to take your money, though. You just have to settle for half the download.Get more detail about The 99 Most Essential Tchaikovsky Masterpieces (Amazon Exclusive).

Buddha-Lounge Sampler Right now

I have never really liked this sort of music nor am I a Buddhist. However; I try and listen to all forms of music with an open mind. Most of what is "churned" out today, I don't give another thought to. This collection was not what I expected. (I am learning more and more than none ever really is!) I passed it up at first, but kept coming back to it. There is something about these tunes that put me into a very tranquil state of mind. About the 6TH time back to listen, I downloaded each song.

I arranged them in what I call my; "Mellow Spin" list of songs. I play this list in my PC room while I work on Disabled American Veterans' claim forms. I was working on a particularly difficult and close to home case, when my wife came into the "Bat Cave." (My PC/Office room at home - rightly named!) She had heard these tunes play and noticed that I had kept replaying them. She sat and listened. Well, now they are on her machine and I am burning her a mix CD of my; "Mellow Spin" list.

My conclusion: All religious aspects aside, this is a SAWEEEET collection of songs. Get them, NOW. Spin them while you are working, you will be much calmer and relaxed.

Regards,
GunnerGet more detail about Buddha-Lounge Sampler.

Empire State Of Mind [Jay-Z + Alicia Keys] (Explicit) Order Now

I am NOT a big fan of 'rap', but this one, by Jay-Z caught my ear the first time I heard it. The beat and the chorus gets you going and being a Native New Yorker, I relate to all the 'shout-out's'. Playing this jam, makes me feel GOOD and PROUD! Another masterpiece, from the Master....Jay-Z!Get more detail about Empire State Of Mind [Jay-Z + Alicia Keys] (Explicit).

The Circle Decide Now

When I listened to the song samples, I thought I would only love a handful of songs, and the rest would only be ok. But the samples don't do the songs justice. There is not a single song on this album that I don't love. I have been listening to the entire album on repeat, and it is both energizing and relaxing at the same time (how is that possible)?

If you like classic Bon Jovi, then you will likely love this album, too.

I recommend it.
