After reading the somewhat scathing reviews written, I hesitated on downloading this piece. I finally did. No, it is not the traditional Carol of Bells (which I love), but if you look at this piece like a totally different and new piece, you may enjoy it.
I love the rhythm of it which is catchy and enjoyable, regardless of the different take on the carol. There is a certain amount of seriousness to it, in keeping with the original version. I enjoyed the retro electric guitar rifs reminiscent of some of the 50's-60's rock. The traditional carol is a round, very repetitive (but very enjoyable), this one is also repetitive since it IS based on the original so expect that.
I don't think the "preview" clip really does any justice to it as it sounds flat compared to the rest of the piece. Listen to this as a "new" piece and enjoy it for what it is, just don't expect a traditional version...it is not...but I could listen to this several times and enjoy it each time. Nice recording and different from all the versions out there that are much too similar to each other. I'm glad I downloaded it and have included it in my Christmas repertoire.Get more detail about Carol Of The Bells.
